OBITUARY

Dr. Jeffrey S. Waitzman 78
Beloved husband of the late Diana J. Waitzman nee Bergman. Loving father of Philip (Heather) Waitzman, Melissa Waitzman (Ronnie Holloway) and Adam (Jodie) Waitzman. Proud papa of Miri, Chloe, Benjamin, Evan, Lilly, Bari, Allie, Taylor and Jordan. Dear brother of Gary (Katie) Waitzman, Marty (Lisa) Waitzman and the late Beverly Tovrog.

Dr. Jeffrey S. Waitzman, a devoted obstetrician-gynecologist, passed away leaving a legacy defined by compassion, integrity, and unwavering commitment. Over the course of more than 30 years in medicine, he delivered over 10,000 newborn babies—an extraordinary testament to his skill, dedication, and enduring presence in the lives of countless families. In a profoundly moving full-circle moment, Dr. Waitzman eventually delivered babies born to women he had once delivered himself. A passionate advocate for both medical and Jewish education, he mentored countless future physicians and actively supported institutions that fostered Jewish learning and values. He was the devoted husband of 49 years to his beloved “Annie,” Diana—a partnership rooted in love, mutual respect, and shared purpose. Above all, his greatest joy was time spent with his nine grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with warmth, wisdom, and laughter. And not to be forgotten was his fond affection for his six devoted grand-puppies, who brought him daily delight. At the heart of his life were the principles he embodied daily: the importance of family, the strength of faith, the dignity of hard work, and the power of always showing up and giving your best effort. He led by quiet example, modeling dedication, presence, and purpose in every role he held. Dr. Waitzman’s impact on the lives he touched is immeasurable, and his legacy lives on in the generations of families, students, and colleagues he inspired.

Graveside service Sunday 9AM at Shalom Memorial Park, (Section X) 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Memorials in his memory to any organization that supports Jewish education would be appreciated. To attend the funeral live stream, please visit our website. To the Waitzman Family,

We used to belong to Congregation Bnai Shalom when I met Jeff and Diana and then became a patient. We were in a bowling league with them thru he shul..
Jeff was the nicest person you ever wanted to meet. I was so sad when he closed his practice.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. And now the folks are together.

May his memory be a blessing.

It has been a honor to call Jeff my friend for over 30 years. We became friends while he was in Milwaukee doing his Residency. Jeff and Diana and Arlene and me became close friends immediately and our families became friends. His legacy will live on forever for his family and grandchildren forever. He is a role model for everyone on how to live your life. He was truly a Mench and will be missed. Love to everyone Art

I was referred to Jeff when pregnant with twins by nurses who called him a teddy bear. Boy, were they correct. Have you ever just known the minute you first meet somebody that here is a wonderful, kind, compassionate person? That's how I felt. He worked so hard, he was so dedicated. When I was in labor with my daughter, Abbie, an emergency occurred. Jeff performed probably the fastest c-section on record, or at least that is what it seemed like. When the chaos was over, Jeff sheepishly said to me, "I cut her." In the process of getting her out quickly, he accidentally caused a small laceration to her forehead. My answer to that was, "you saved her life." Yes, he did. I can still see that scar on her forehead if I look hard, and I always think of Jeff and how Abbie is only here because of him. Diana was just as sweet as Jeff. I was struggling with taking care of a new infant and twin two-year old boys, and the next thing that happened, I will never forget. Jeff and Diana came over with McDonalds and to check on me. Both of them were so dear, so precious, and will always, always, be in my heart. I am so lucky to have known them. God bless them both and may their memories be a blessing.

Dr. Waitzman was a wonderful doctor who delivered both of my children and also cared for my mother and daughter. I won’t forget his kindness.

To Philip, Melissa and Adam,
As you all know, your Dad and I worked together for over 22 years. We became the best of friends - sharing stories about our families (mainly) - and we both really enjoyed working! We were a couple of workaholics . His devotion to his patients was only surpassed by his love and devotion to his family. Whenever I complimented one of you , he immediately said "it's all thanks to Diana " she is the one that has been there doing all of the right things, raising the kids.
His long , difficult journey is over - reunited with his beloved Diana - may they rest in peace!
With love and prayers for your family
