OBITUARY

Rachel Zukerman nee Baron, age 85.

Beloved wife of Harold Zukerman for 60 years. Loving daughter of the late David and Sadelle Baron. Precious mother of Michael (Jennifer) Zukerman, Deborah (Sander) Lee, and Daniel (Jennifer) Zukerman. Proud Nana of Gabrielle, Aidan, and Talia Zukerman, Lyndsey, Zachary, and Megan Lee, and Samara, Ashleigh, and Madison Zukerman. Cherished sister of the late Dr. Joseph (the late Dr. Beverly) Baron. Treasured sister-in-law of Frieda (Harvey) Shoemack. Adoring aunt.

Rachel Zukerman was a creative force who loved life, a true creative genius whose musicals were performed, whose paintings were exhibited in five major museums, and whose writings were widely admired. Her extraordinary imagination found expression not only in her professional work, but in the way she approached life, bringing originality, energy, and joy to everything she touched. Most importantly, Rachel’s creativity came alive in her family, where she was a cherished mother and Nana whose love of life will live on in her children and grandchildren.

So sorry to hear of Rachel’s passing. At one time we were great pen pals and found we had a lot in common. Her grandfather Max and my grandmother Jennie were sister and brother. Rachel and I were born in the same year,, in the same month. We both had three children, two sons and a daughter (both named Deborah). We met in person only a few times but really found we had a lot in common and enjoyed our commoraderie.
My heartfelt condolences to the entire family.
Love,
Roberta

To my very dear cousins,

Rachie was such an amazing soul, a true artist, a joyful and caring daughter, a dearest cousin, a flame to all our candles. It breaks my heart that she will not be there when we finally get to Chicago, but it gives me such great joy that we will see all of you. You can tell us all about her. The daughter, the sister, the mother, the cousin, the grandmother. She was and will always be truly a blessing.

With much love, Judy, Gittelman, Harris
