Funeral Details

We first met Eva when we went to look at the condo we subsequently bought on Claremont. Eva was so welcoming that we knew we would be very much at home with her as a neighbor.. And so it proved. We could not have wished for a kinder, more generous neighbor. Her kindnesses ranged from supervising the refinishing of our floors to taking care of our son's goldfish when we were away. Annual condo board meetings.were as much party as business as Eva always gave us good things to eat. And I felt welcome at any time to drop in on Eva and Jan with my dog (Flora, later Cuillin), who also loved visiting Eva.

Eva was a beautiful human being, herself a light in the world. He memory shines on.

Auntie Eva was so special to me. An inspiration when I wanted to study the sciences in college. She always wanted to hear my opinions on science. She was my aunt-in-law as Joe BD''E, my mother's brother-in-law. But she was always my aunt. I haven't seen her for many years, but she will be missed.

We remember Eva as smart and full of humour. When we visited Chicago, we loved hearing her stories about arriving in the city and the life and work she built there. Still full of energy, she would explain medicine to us and gently poke fun at my uncles’ familiar tales.

Eva, even though our meetings in Chicago were brief, they left a lasting impression. You were the kind of person who touched people’s hearts instantly — warm, genuine, and full of light.
