I knew as friends and patients Bernie and Rita for many years. They were two of the warmest, most intelligent, and caring people I've known. Rita dealt with issues in an analytical, rational and positive way that was inspirational to me. Bernie developed an unusual neuro-ophthalmic condition and soon became expert in understanding his condition and living with it. I think of Rita and Bernie often and am saddened to learn of Rita's passing.
