OBITUARY

Joan L. Hara (née Rosenberg) passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026. She was the devoted wife of the late Harvey Hara, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and memories until his passing in 2023. Joan was the adoring and proud mother of Glenn (Katy) Hara and Scott Hara. Her greatest joy in recent years was her role as "Nana" to her cherished grandchildren, Samantha and Ben, to whom she passed on her warmth, wisdom, and spirit. She was the dear sister of Phyllis Savitt and was preceded in death by her brother, Burton Rosenberg. A woman of deep family devotion, Joan leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength that will be carried forward by her children, grandchildren, and extended family. May her memory be for a blessing.

I learned to play Canasta with Joan and then played on Fridays with her at Dengeos. We had such a good time together and have missed her. I am so sorry for your loss. May her memory be a blessing.

My sincere condolences on the passing of your beloved mother and grandmother, Joan Hara. Joan and I had been friends since grammar school. We even went to senior prom together with the Norris‘s. Joan was one of the bridesmaids at my wedding. May she rest in peace and may her memory be for a blessing.

Joan was one of a kind. While I only knew her for a short time , she was like an "old" friend. Her devotion to her family, was "over the top" amazing. She was one of the kindest persons I know. I miss her. May her memory be a blessing to all of us.

I went to high school with Joan and we reconnected thru our her son Glenn and my son Paul. My late husband, Barry and I enjoyed our friendship with Harvey and Joan.
My mother and Joan's mother became friends at Lincolnwood Place. They both were good cooks and bakers. Before each holiday you cook smell the gefilte fish coming from their apartments. My husband and Joan's brother, Burt were law friends.
I will miss Joan's smile and sense of humor. May her memory be a blessing.

I met Joan while taking canasta lessons and we played together for many years. She was kind, thoughtful and had a wonderful sense of humor. I remember my last visit with her at the Whitehall. Our canasta group thinks of her often and she will be sorely missed. May her memory be a blessing.
