OBITUARY
Sheila Del Valle, nee Asher, age 81
Beloved mother of Deidre Baumann, Teresa Baumann (deceased), Kristina (Tom) Chambers, Andrea Kim, Emily (Dan) Chambers. Loving grandmother of Karina Kim, Nora Chambers, Katherine Chambers, Hana Kim, Ella Chambers, Elisabeth Chambers, Luke Chambers, and Michael Chambers. Dear sister of Allen Asher (deceased) and daughter of Rochelle Asher, nee Zindell (deceased) and Oscar Asher (deceased). Sheila deeply loved her family, her friends, and her dogs, Roxy, Checkers, Molly (deceased) and Boomer (deceased) and was a true free spirit to all who knew her. She was a Chicago Public high school computer science and Spanish language teacher, a lover of music, art, and books, a wonderful salsa dancer, and an avid collector of fine glass and pottery. Sheila loved life and found joy in life’s smallest details. Throughout her life, she fought for what she believed and until she passed on November 13, 2021, lived life largely on her own terms. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd. (at Niles Center Road) in Skokie. Interment will be at Menorah Gardens in Broadview. Shiva/Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Norwood Park Historical Society, 5624 N. Newark in Chicago, at which time, we will honor the life and legacy of a remarkable woman. We respectfully ask that all attendees follow recommended Covid protocol. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite animal rescue of choice or to the American Lung Association. To attend the funeral live stream, please visit our website.
