OBITUARY

David C. “Chards” Moss 67.
Beloved son of the late Henry S. (Hank) “Poder” and the late Barbara J. “Mabel” Moss. Loving brother of Philip B. (Susan) Moss and Lawrence J. (Lauren Class Schneider) Moss. Fond uncle of Benjamin (Rachael Jackson Moss) Moss, Danny (Susan Landau Moss) Moss, Elena Moss and Adele (Joey Glick) Moss. Happy great-uncle of Jay Henry Moss and Levi Max Moss. In addition to love of family, David loved to play and talk bridge. He played at a very high level, was a board member of the American Contract Bridge League and President of the Greater New York Bridge Association. His many friends and acquaintance in the bridge world will miss him. He remained an avid Chicago sports fan, even after four decades of living in New York (boo, Mets!). He and his brothers texted during Cubs games, predicting their impending doom. 2016 was a pleasant surprise, but he was sad that his mom Mabel didn't live to experience the Cubs' World Series Championship. He appreciated a good milkshake (vanilla, please); root beer float not far behind. He was sweet fellow with a sharp, inquiring mind; a droll sense of humor; a gentle soul with his nieces, nephews and grand nephews; a fierce and highly opinionated proponent of what he thought to be right. Service Thursday 9AM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Road (One block north of Lake Cook Road) Buffalo Grove. Interment Shalom. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: ACBL Education Foundation, 6575 Wind Chase Boulevard Horn Lake, Mississippi 38637-1523, www.acbleducationalfoundation.org/donate.php, Jewish Democratic Council of America, PO Box 33638, Washington, DC 20036, jewishdems.org/, or another charitable organization of your choice. Larry, I was sorry to read of your father's passing. I lost my mother earlier this year and, even if it was inevitable and the time had come, the death still leaves a great emptiness only partially filled by what sounds like great memories. Please give my condolences to Lauren and your family.

David was a good friend, an occasional bridge partner and a colleague at the GNYBA. As president, he recruited me to become tournament chairman, though as the immedidate past tournament chairman, he made sure to guide me (tell me?) as to what I was supposed to do. In more recent years, though no longer on the board, he was still active and played an important role in the local bridge world -- even when I visited him at the hospital, he was dictating emails to me that I sent on his phone to bridge colleagues. As another bridge friend said, he was a force in our community and will be sorely missed. To Larry and Phil and all his family, my sincere condolences. His memory will always be a blessing...

To David’s family.

I want to extend my deepest condolences for your loss. A common friend told me of David’s passing.

David and I worked very closely together for several years at Peat Marwick/KPMG Consulting. I admired David’s intellect while spending many late hours at work that developed into a friendship. I introduced him to my family in NYC and we would trek into Staten Island for a good Italian meal at my mom’s.

I have met many people in my career and business journey. And although we lost touch, David will always have a place in my memory.
