I knew Rita through my longtime friend Phil Sharkan. Rita was a very interesting person that did things in her own way. I was very sad to hear about her passing.

Rita was friendly, engaging, and fun. We met about 15 years ago at the Green Mill Lounge, where we frequently shared a booth on swing dance nights. Rita often told interesting stories about her travels, her neighborhood, and her adventures around the city. She attended more music and cultural events than anyone I know. I miss Rita's conversation and her carefree personality, and I'll always remember her light-up sneakers and blinky necklaces! May her memory be a blessing. My condolences to the family.
