I was so sorry to hear about Gene's passing. I was President of AZA, Milwaukee 39 just before him. For a year or 2 Gene, his brother George and I were at the U of Wisconsin together. Later we both lived in Mission Hills and he would swim while I was working out in the clubhouse there. He was a remarkable success story. May his memory be for a blessing.

I was blessed to have Dr & Dr. Lerner in my life, long before he guided me with his financial guru insight. I remember being with him with our family for Rosh Hashanah around the table sharing stories. My favorite time was enjoying his time on two fishing excursions--one with my family in Arkansas the other in Elgin at the retreat. He made fishing look so easy and was always encouraging me even though I was not able to catch but blue gills-LOL! Eugene was a great man, mentor and so down to earth--in yiddush we say HAMASH--BUT want to add some humor--After all his countless letters of financial advice or with his talks I always had to ask him--can you simplify it for my simple mind. His letters for me ended with stay the course and have faith--go with the ups and downs with life (beyond the stock market), don't panic and in the end it will be OK. Dr. Lerner made a difference and the world was better because of him. Thank you to the family for sharing him with us.
