Worked with Marty for 28 years going back to U.S. Equities days. We golfed together a number of times and used to share a laugh or two almost daily at 20 N Mich. Marty was a pleasure to work with and a pleasure to know, will be greatly missed. Please accept my sincere condolences.

A piece of me is gone. Deeply sad for the loss of a sweet, wise, funny man that loved to laugh, smile and dance. Marty's impact on the world remains bright. His impact on the world abounds. He shaped the development of many public and communal spaces. This is emblematic of how so many people loved to gather around Marty. As I occupy these public spaces around Chicago that Marty helped to shape, I will be reminded of how Marty loved being surrounded by people and shaping communities.

Rarely are we at a loss for words as we are at this moment. Marty was everything life has to offer: smarts, warmth, fun, love and sechel. We grieve for Devi, Sarah and Rachel as well as all the extended family. Marty will always be in our thoughts. We'll remember the good times - there were so many. With love from the Leidermans: Hermine, Mike, Jill and Eric

My deepest sympathies to Marty's family and friends. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. I have known Marty since he started at U.S. Equities in 1988, and although I worked for other brokers in another department, for most of our time together at U.S. Equities we worked near each other and often took a few minutes to talk. Even after I retired from CBRE in 2016 we have been in contact through our love of sports. I will miss him.

I had the honor and pleasure of working with Marty on two major projects. The first when he was at Amoco we partnered on Northpoint in Rogers Park and later through the Urban League we again worked together in West Woodlawn. Marty was a wonderful, smart, caring individual whose knowledge and demeanor added a new dimension to everything he was involved in. He will be sorely missed.

I knew Marty as our beloved colorful friend Rachelâ??s father! He would show up in Portland with a wide open mind, a loving, generous heart, and a deeply playful nature! Rachelâ??s tribe all loved him and welcomed his visits. My heart is crushed for his family left behind. May his festive memory of how he lived his life help lesson the pain of his loss from this planet.

Although I didnâ??t know Marty well, when I did have encounters with him I could feel his authentic heart. So warm and welcoming and a smile that was contagious. Both Nichole and I had the greatest fortune to be able to work with Marty over the last 2 years. He brought a sense of peace to a very difficult project, not just for us, but for so many owners in our 150 unit condo building. When he entered the room, everything was just a little brighter - every time. Peace to Devi, Sarah, Rachel and the rest of Martyâ??s family, friends, and colleagues.
