Shelly and I were friends from the time she arrived with her parents and grandmother on Montrose Avenue. They were our upstairs neighbors and Shelly and I quickly became friends. Together we attended Stewart School, Anshe Emet religious school, and Senn High School. We both sang in the choir at Anshe Emet; Shelly had such a lovely voice! We were in the Senn orchestra - she on violin, and I on cello. We even double-dated for our high school prom. In later years we were able to visit one another in Highland Park and in New York. We spoke a couple of times a year as we each recalled the other's birthday.
May her memory be a blessing. She will be missed.

Shelly, it was a pleasure working with you. I will miss our conversation about places you’ve traveled, stories about your students, the places you collected your dolls and most of all stories about your grandchildren. You will be truly missed. Condolences to the family. RIP Shelly

Shelly was such a warm and special person who we will sadly miss. She attended Senn High School with Maurice. In 2004, when Deanna joined Kol Zimrah, Shelly patted the chair next to her, meaning “sit here”. We became “Soprano Sisters” for all these wonderful years of sharing music. Even as Shelly’s health changed, she bravely continued singing and participated in our concerts. She was a respected teacher and quite the math genius!
We pray for her dear family to be strong. May
memories of Shelly lift your spirits, and carry you forward.
Love,
Deanna and Maurice
