OBITUARY

Koreene T. Footlik, 79.

Beloved mother of Jay Footlik and Corey Footlik. Proud “Grammie” of Kaitlin, Yarden, Isabel, Siana and Addison. Dear sister of Arthur (Judy) Goodfriend, Jodie (Jeffrey) Virene, Randi (Valerie Foley) Goodfriend. Cherished daughter of the late Dr. Julian and the late Mindelle Goodfriend. Loving companion of the late Jerry Segal.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Koreene Footlik. She raised her sons, Jay and Corey, as a single parent after our father left, pouring her heart and soul into giving us a loving, stable life. Her devotion didn’t stop with us—she was an adoring Grammie to her five granddaughters, never missing a chance to be part of their lives. Koreene had a boundless love for life—she was passionate about theater, often taking her granddaughters to local productions in Chicago. She never passed up a chance to dance, enjoy music, or attend her granddaughters’ dance recitals and school plays. Koreene was the heart of our family, fiercely devoted to her siblings, her children and grandchildren, and friends. Her strength, warmth, and joy will be missed beyond words.

Service Wednesday 10AM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd (at Niles Center Road), Skokie. Interment Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The MDS Foundation, 228 Park Ave S, PMB 118983, New York, NY 10003-1502 www.MDS-foundation.org. Jay, Corey my deepest sympathy and condolences on the passing of your mom, my prayers for you both to find comfort with each other and know that mom is resting. She will always be miss and will continue to live in the heart of all she touched with her kindness. The little time I spent with her and share so much with each other was priceless even on the not so good days when she was not feeling well. I really appreciate the time with her because we became friends and she told me so many times how much she appreciates me. RIP mom. Now I listen to Barry Manilow.

It was truly an honor to know and care for Koreene over the past 25 + years. Her kindness, grace, and quiet strength always left an impression. I’ll never forget the conversations we shared and the trust she placed in me, even inviting me into her home during her time of need. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. I very much regret not being able to make the service due to work. My deepest condolences.
