Beloved wife of the late Jack P. Rimland. Adoring mother of Stephany E. Rimland. Proud grandmother of Sydney R. Sicner. Sister of the late Bernard Silver. Lively aunt to Jeremy and David Sternberg. Marlene led a colorful life. She began her career in musical theatre and was cast in several Chicago off-broadway musicals. After Stephany was born, she earned her degree in Interior Design and established her own design firm in Chicago, Marlene J. Rimland and Associates. My heart is heavy to hear of Marlene's passing. She was such a dynamic woman. I have not seen her for 10 years, but I think of her often. My heart goes out to Stephany and Sydney. She was like a big sister, a generous and wonderful friend to me for many years. We spent a great deal of time together during the time I still lived in Chicago. I have so many wonderful memories of Marlene, Jack and Stephany. I am truly saddened by the news. May her memory be a blessing.

My thoughts to Stephany and Sydney in the loss of their mother and grandmother. I met Marlene and Jack in Elkhart Lake around 2002 and knew immediately I liked them! Marlene was one of a kind with a big heart, abundant energy, and a spunky sense of humor. She has been missed ( and Jack!) since they sold the EL place. Nobody can replace them. My heart goes out to you, Stephany. Losing a parent is always hard. I pray that you have peace and comfort at this time. Hugs,

Marlene will always be remembered, as she brought so much joy, laughter and pure fun into every room she entered. I was so lucky to be her friend for over 76 years and will be forever grateful for the memories, adventures and sheer delight we shared. Marlene was truly one of the most brilliant, fearless, and closest friend/sister to me.. I will miss her deeply.

Marlene was always at our home with my sister Susan. And she always referred to herself as our third sister. When Susan moved out of town I would meet her once a week downtown (Chicago) which would require me to make special arrangements for my kids. She then referred to me as 'Susan's Substitute". One week I drove to pick her up at her apartment & as I approached the entrance to her building I saw a note to me on her mailbox. It read "I can't meet you today, Nat, I'm having a baby!" We were always very close to Mar, and I will always have a smile in my heart for her. Natalie Colitz Cohen

Dear Stephany and Family, So many wonderful memories of Marlene—Can hear her voice, laugh and feel her energy. She had many passions not the least of which was the pursuit of the ultimate drive thru Diet Coke—last I remember was Styrofoam cup and ice. Will hold you in our prayers in the days ahead. Love, Marc and Meredith
