OBITUARY
Rosalind L. Feingold, nee Frumkin, age 95, passed away in Chicago, Illinois, on February 3, 2026. She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of more than 71 years, Eugene M. Feingold.
Rosalind is survived by her daughter, Susan Feingold Carlson; her grandchildren, Robert Schwartz (and his wife Shana), David Carlson, and Elizabeth Carlson; her great granddaughter, Lily Schwartz; her sons-in-law Mark Schwartz and Douglas Carlson; her sisters-in-law Ruth Kern (and her husband Arthur), Faith Feingold and Lorinda Feingold; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Leslie Feingold Schwartz; her parents Jacob and Dora Frumkin; and her siblings Helen Giller, Howard Frumkin, Shirley Lessick, Ruth Glassberg, and David Frumkin.
Rosalind was born and raised in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Hazleton High School and Emerson College, the first in her family to receive a college degree.
Although Rosalind was trained as a speech therapist, the Massachusetts “marriage bar” prohibited her from securing a teaching position following her marriage to Gene in 1952. Not deterred, she took a job at MIT assisting on a research project that used early computer technology to improve the accuracy of weather predictions. In 1954, Rosalind and Gene moved to Hammond, Indiana, where Gene began a law practice and Rosalind stayed at home with newborn Leslie. In December 1958, they moved to Munster, Indiana, and Susan was born four months later. Rosalind characterized the years raising their two girls as some of her most fulfilling, as nothing brought her greater joy than her family.
Rosalind hosted wonderful parties, many with a unique theme; led a financially successful all-female investment club (no spouses allowed); enjoyed sunny afternoons on the golf course with family and friends; immersed herself in mystery novels and true crime stories, often solving them early on with ease; and loved outfitting her family, even when recent circumstances required her to resort to astute online shopping.
Following daughter Leslie’s death in 2011, the family established a foundation in her memory to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research. Rosalind served as a director of the foundation until shortly before her death.
