OBITUARY

Robert Shonfeld, age 94

Beloved husband of the late Phyllis M. Shonfeld nee Meltzer. Loving father of Hugh Shonfeld and Amy (Jeff) Friedman. Proud grandfather of Jack and Jennifer. Dear brother of Willard (Joan Berger) Shonfeld and Rosalie Harris. Bob, a combat infantry veteran of WWII, returned to civilian life in 1946, attended the Art Institute of Chicago, and graduated from the University of Illinois College of Journalism. A gifted artist and writer, Bob worked in advertising as an account executive. He continued to read widely and paint after his retirement, gifting loved ones with his meaningful paintings. He was warm, wise, modest, and a loving companion for many. To keep everyone safe and healthy, the chapel and interment services will be private. Memorials in his memory to The ARK, 6450 N. California Ave., Chicago, IL 60645, www.arkchicago.org would be appreciated. To attend the funeral live stream, please visit our website. Hugh,
I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. I will always remember the meals I shared with you and him. He was a kind and gentile soul, that all of us should try to be. If you or your family need anything during this time please fell free to call me. Your friend Phil

Bob was more than just a dear friend (to me and my dad and the whole family). He was a shining example of the best of us in so many ways. I feel enormously grateful to have been his friend and to learn from his beautiful example, it made me a better man. I uploaded a video here, but not clear it went through.

Although it has been many years since I was in contact with your parents, they are sorely missed. Very fine people and fine cousins!
