OBITUARY
Cayla L. Bender nee Levey
Born as the first of two daughters to Samuel and Birdie Levey of Chicago, Illinois, where the family owned Kay Kotton and the Sally Ann Corset Shop and were active in the Jewish Community of Anshe Emet.
Cayla attended Roosevelt University, and married husband Alvin in 1962. Cayla worked growing the family business (Sally Ann Corset Shop) for more than 60 years alongside her sister Avis Levey Zimbler. Cayla loved helping her customers prepare for their weddings, proms, and everyday celebrations. She was always thrilled when three generations of customers would shop together for their happy occasions and leave the store looking and feeling their best.
A Chicagoan her entire life, Cayla lived in the Lakeview neighborhood for more than fifty years, and traveled extensively through Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia.
Cayla had two children with husband Alvin, who passed away in 1970. Cayla was a devoted mother to her two children Dayna and Mason (along with his wife Jennifer), and is survived by them, her sister Avis, five grandchildren Jack, Sam, Ella, Rachel and Ava, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She leaves a large community of loving family and friends. She will be remembered by all whose lives she touched.
Funeral services and the celebration of her life will be Monday, April 25th at 2pm in Skokie at Chicago Jewish Funerals (8851 Skokie Blvd, Skokie, IL 60077) followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials in her name to your favorite charity would be appreciated. Arrangements by Chicago Jewish Funerals-Skokie Chapel, 847.229.8822, www.cjfinfo.com
In honor of Cayla, we invite you to wear red.
