I've worked at UC Hospital for 8 years, mostly on 3rd shift. A few years ago, on my way out at the end of my shift, a very pleasant looking white haired man was approaching me in the corridor apparently on his way to work. As he passed, he raised his hand, looked directly at me, and said, "Good morning." This happened repeatedly over the next few months. My co-workers would kid me saying," Is that your brother?" [I'm over 60 and have white hair also.] I told them I have no idea who this guy is, but I'll find out. One morning I caught this gentleman in the parking garage. I said, "Do I know you? Do you know me? I work in the Plant Dept." "No", he says, "My name is Gary Toback. Perhaps we have run into each other." Not Doctor Toback, not Mr. Toback, just Gary Toback. Being inquisitive, I looked up Gary Toback in the hospital directory. Here's a very prestigious doctor saying "good morning" to a perfect stranger. No airs, genuinely honest. Exactly how I approach life. I read a comment his son wrote regarding all the lives his father touched. Add mine to the list.
