Dear Mrs. Cohen & the Cohen Family,

Mark was one of my managers many years ago and it was a shock to learn of his passing today. Mark provided me with much guidance during my early years as a new special agent. His investigative experiences and encouraging words provided me with the foundation to have a successful career as a Special Agent. I will always appreciate him for that. He will be missed and I am deeply sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences and prayers to your family for your loss.

Warmest Regards,

My Sympathy and Condolences to you all. Mark Cohen was a wonderful and awesome Manager to me when we worked at CI-IRS together until his retirement. I was his secretary. I loved hearing the history of the Jewish Faith. He was a great encouragement to me while I was in Ministry School and he also encouraged me to go back to Law School. We even went to the John Marshall Law School one day at lunchtime to see what it took for me to get back into Law School. 🙂 I didn't know where we were going! He just said "Come on, we got somewhere to go". I said "ok". 🙂 lol. We walked down the street to the Law School and I was in shock! I said Whaattttt?? We talked to the people about how to get back in law school and we came back to work. He was one of a kind. My Manager, My friend, My Spiritual Mentor. He will truly be missed. May the Lord comfort and strengthen you during this time and always. God Bless You All

It was a shock to read the email concerning MARK. We go back quite a few years, shared classes at UIC not knowing that we would work at the same place. We went through all the Treasury schools at the same time down in Georgia and shared many memories. My condolences go out to his wife and children, I am truly sorry for your loss.

So sad to hear of the passing of Mark Cohen. He was one of my supervisors with IRS-CID. I recall him to be generous with his time and patient with my numerous questions. Strangely he came to my mind just a few days ago and I remembered him fondly. I wish comfort and Godâ??s blessings to the family.

Dear Renee, Chani, and Yossi,

I was a special agent in Mark's group in the Skokie Post of Duty for many years. Mark was a very dedicated and knowledgeable supervisor. His background as an
attorney provided his agents with additional incite, information and skills that aided agents not only in their investigations on the job but, in their personal lives as well. Mark proved legal advice on a few personal matters that made a difference in my life and more importantly, likewise rendered support and advice to me when my sons were diagnosed with diabetes. The shock of learning that was a low point in my life, and Mark had encouraging words advising that if there was a disease that one had to encounter, that that was one that wouldn't stop them from doing whatever they desired and wanted, career-wise in life, and also offered hope that perhaps there would one day be a cure.

So you see Chani and Yossi, you should be very proud of your father, for not only was he a supervisor who 'had your back' and thus supported his agents in the field, but he was also a very warm and caring man who took a sincere interest in his agent's personal lives as well. For those agents who allowed it to be so, his group was like his family and one would know that to be the case as Mark genuinely took sympathy for and went out of his way in offering both action and support for his agent's family whenever possible.

I believe those traits were ingrained in you Chani and Yossi, for your father was very proud of and loved you both. I'm feel certain that Mark's grandchildren, Nina and Talya, will likewise carry on that proud family tradition, and that Mark will continue to live on through the memories he provided to his entire family, as well as all of us whom he had touched our hearts!

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let Thy perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen

Renee and family, may God continue to b

Dear Renee, Chani, and Yossi,
I am deeply strucken and saddened by the death of your and my beloved Mark.
Mark was my supervisor, my mentor and Iâ??m proud to say my friend.

As a supervisor Mark shepherded my career in a very caring way. Always thinking of ways to develop and promote me and I believe he always tried to do right by me even if we disagreed.
As a mentor, Mark was always open to me for guidance and direction and he always gave me relevant and honest advice. He is greatly responsible for me becoming a SSA and he was always there to assist me along the way. He would always tell me â??You have paid your dues, we are going to make them look beyond your color and your gender!â? I loved him for that!

As a friend, we spent many hour talking about our lives to each other. I remember when he first met Renee and how excited he was. We talked about his love for his son and daughter endlessly. And the grand baby, what a light in his heart! So needless to say, our friendship was true and special. So Renee, Chani, and Yossi know that I mourn with you and Mark was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by many.
Until we meet again in heaven Mark, rest peacefully. Your friend eternally, Alonna

Dear Rene and family,

Our condolences and prayers for you and your family. Cheryl and I have known Mark since the 70's when he first came on the job. Becoming and being a Special Agent was very important to Mark, as it was to most of us. The only thing more important to Mark was his family, whom he talked about frequently. As a supervisor, he was very supportive of the agents in his group as well as agents in general. He had their back. He was an excellent supervisor, who was able to balance guiding the agents and cases without curbing their enthusiasm or "getting in the way." He was always available to discuss case issues that any agent or supervisor had. And as knowledgeable as he was, he also was never shy about seeking a different perspective or assistance from others. He always supported both the agents and support personnel, including prepping them for career advancement.

Mark introduced several of us to "A Slice of Life," one of his favorite restaurants, as well as to Kosher Chinese food. Both were great.

Mark was first and foremost, a real family guy. He was a good friend and a good guy and he will be missed. Rest in peace. Cheryl and Jim Madden

My heart and my prayers go out to you Renee and your family. Mark was a great friend to me. He and I met at Krav Maga classes, he would always offer me a ride to the train, as well as advice. He will always be a superhero to me, and I will always smile whenever I think of him. May God continue to bless you and your family.

Dear Renee and family,

I am so sorry for your loss. Mark was a wonderful human being and I consider myself privileged to have known him. He and I became friends during our computer forensic training in Virginia and south Georgia in 2001. Although we only spent a short time together, it was easy to see how important his family and faith were to him. We ate many meals together at a restaurant that had a salad bar that offered an array of foods that met his religious requirements. I think back fondly to those occasions and the many great conversations we had between us. The world had truly lost a point of light with his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and friends.

I just learned of Mark's passing from a fellow retired FBI Agent. Renee and family, please know you are in my prayers. I am so sorry for your loss. Mark has represented me and many other grateful FBI Agents. His passion to seek justice for us helped many of us keep a positive outlook. When I finally met Mark (and Renee), I ended up at your house for hours talking and laughing. Mark became my trusted friend. Someone I knew who had my best interest in mind and heart and someone I could send funny messages to about a common concern. I'm saddened from Mark's passing. We have one less angel of justice on earth but I know he's working his magic from heaven. My thoughts, prayers and sympathy for the Cohen family. You are all part of my family after working together for five, plus years. God Bless you all. RIP Hero. You have done wonderful things and we are all very grateful.
